What Schemewala is
Schemewala (www.schemewala.com) is an independent website that explains Indian central and state government schemes in plain language: who qualifies, what the benefit is, which documents are needed, and where the official application portal is.
Schemewala is not a government website. It is not affiliated with any ministry, department or political party, and it does not accept applications, documents or fees.
Who runs it
Schemewala is run by its founder, Abhijit Chowdhury, who writes and maintains the guides. Every guide he has published is listed on his author page.
How guides are researched
- We start from primary sources: the scheme notification or guidelines, the implementing department's website and the official application portal.
- News reports tell us that something has been announced. Until an official document is published, the guide says the details are unconfirmed.
- A guide that has been re-checked lists the official sources it was checked against and the date of that check. A guide that has not yet been re-checked carries a notice saying so.
- When applications are closed, not yet open, or a scheme has been replaced, a status notice appears at the top of the guide.

What we cannot do
We cannot check your individual application, release payments or influence any decision. For those, contact the department or helpline named in the guide.
