Check Your Eligibility for Central & State Government Schemes

Answer a few questions and we will check every scheme guide on SchemeWala to show the ones you may be eligible for, with the reason for each match. No login, no documents, and the last three questions are optional.

Which government schemes am I eligible for?

Most central and state schemes decide eligibility on the same handful of facts: your age, whether the scheme is for women or a particular group, the state you live in, your family income, your social category and what you do for a living. The checker above uses those same facts. The sections below explain what usually matters for each group of people and link to the guides that cover them.

Government schemes for students (Class 10, 12 and college)

Students are usually matched on education level, family income and social category. Pre-matric and post-matric scholarships, merit scholarships and state scholarships are applied for through the National Scholarship Portal or the state portal, normally once every academic year. Paid internship and skilling schemes become relevant after Class 12 or graduation.

Government schemes for women and girls

Many state governments pay a monthly cash benefit to adult women from low-income families, and both the Centre and the states run maternity, nutrition and girl-child schemes. Age, marital status, family income and residence in the state are the usual tests, so choose your state carefully in the checker.

Schemes for farmers

Farmer schemes are matched on occupation and land ownership. PM-KISAN pays eligible landholding farmer families ₹6,000 a year in three instalments, and crop insurance, farm-machinery subsidies and state input-support schemes have their own rules. Keep your land record, Aadhaar-seeded bank account and e-KYC up to date.

Schemes for unemployed youth and workers

If you are unemployed, the checker looks for skilling, employment, internship and self-employment loan schemes. Rural households can ask for wage work under MGNREGA through a job card, and some states pay an unemployment allowance to registered job seekers who meet age and education conditions.

Schemes for senior citizens and pensioners

From age 60, old-age pension schemes run by the Centre and the states come into view, usually with an income or BPL condition. Under Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY, every citizen aged 70 or above can get free hospital treatment cover of up to ₹5 lakh a year regardless of income.

Health, housing and household schemes

Health insurance, housing and household-utility schemes are open to most families that meet the income or deprivation criteria, so they appear for many profiles. Check the hospital list, the house-ownership condition or the electricity-connection rule in each guide before applying.

Documents you will usually need

Whatever the scheme, applications go faster when these are ready and the name and date of birth match on all of them: Aadhaar, a bank account in your own name that is seeded with Aadhaar for direct benefit transfer, a residence or domicile certificate for state schemes, an income certificate where there is an income limit, a caste certificate for SC, ST or OBC schemes, and age or education proof where the scheme asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

How does the SchemeWala eligibility checker work?

You answer a few questions about your age, gender, state, employment, education and, if you choose, your occupation, family income and social category. The checker compares your answers with the eligibility details written in each published SchemeWala guide and lists the schemes that fit, with the reasons for each match.

Is the result a final eligibility decision?

No. It is guidance based on the published scheme details. The department that runs a scheme makes the final decision after checking your documents. Always read the full guide and the official portal before applying.

Do I have to share my income or caste category?

No. Occupation, family income and social category are optional. Leaving them blank never hides a scheme; adding them only removes schemes you clearly cannot get, such as a scheme with a lower income limit or one reserved for a different category.

Does SchemeWala store my answers?

The checker does not ask for your name, phone number, Aadhaar or any document. Your answers are placed in the page address so the results can be shown and shared; like any page address, it can appear in our site analytics. See the privacy policy for details.

Why do closed schemes not appear in the results?

Schemes whose application window has closed, or which have been discontinued, are left out because you cannot apply for them. Their guides stay on the site for reference.
