The PMGSY is the central scheme responsible for the massive network of black-top roads connecting India's remote villages to main highways and markets. Currently, the scheme is in its later phases, focusing on upgrading existing rural roads and connecting specific unconnected habitations in difficult, left-wing extremism (LWE) affected, and hilly areas.

You don't need to protest; you just need a smartphone.The government enforces a strict 5-Year Routine Maintenance Contract on the contractor who builds a PMGSY road. If the road breaks within 5 years, the contractor MUST fix it at their own cost. Here is the exact process to enforce this:
- Download "Meri Sadak": Download the official government app, Meri Sadak, from the Google Play Store.
- On-Site Complaint: Stand physically on the broken road. Open the app and select "Register Complaint".
- The Geo-tag Rule (Crucial): The app will force you to take a live photo of the pothole or the poor construction. Because the photo is geo-tagged (it records the exact GPS coordinates), the State Quality Coordinator (SQC) cannot deny that the road is broken.
- The 10-Day Reopen Rule (Hidden Clause): The department will investigate and reply to your app. If they falsely claim "the road is fixed" but it isn't, you have a 10-day window to hit the "Reopen Complaint" button in the app. This escalates the issue directly to higher authorities, putting immense pressure on the contractor.
